Chasing Dreams, Developing Passions and Making Ideas Happen.
My Background
Growing up in the Bay of Plenty, boats, cars and Lego were all I cared about. That led to a curious, adventurous streak and a drive to create and build things of my own. Boats have been my biggest influence, and they've taught me how to be a brilliant problem-solver, from small repairs to high-pressure emergencies, and how to navigate changing situations, adapt to risk and take on big responsibilities. Boating also showed me freedom: on the water there are no roads and no directions, no limits to where you can go, and I try to apply that thinking to life.
A career in business always felt right; I just didn't know which path to take. Now, halfway through university, I've found my passion in financial advice. But the drive to create something of my own has never left, so I'm pouring it into building out all my ideas and learning from my failures.
My Passions
The marine industry is where my heart is, and nothing beats getting out on my own boat, chasing my own adventures and exploring somewhere new. The automotive world fascinates me just as much: the constant evolution of performance, and that feeling you only get behind the wheel.
Away from all that, it's the simple stuff, like time with family and friends, chipping away at my golf swing, and doing my best to get off the bottom at quiz night. But above everything, I love creating. I'm always observing, always learning, and always looking for how something could be done better or a problem solved.
My Focus
My biggest focus is turning thoughts into reality, getting ideas onto paper, building them out, and seeing what works and what doesn't. I sharpen my skills in the process, and I make sure every project is a lesson that leaves me with more knowledge and ability for the next one.
Beyond generating projects, I'm working on the parts that help them grow: improving my marketing, learning social media and what actually makes people engage, and getting my head around the other pieces of building a project and a personal brand. I'm also focused on growing my network and finding others on a similar journey.
Why
After school I had all these dreams and aspirations but no real idea of the how. So I moved around and tried a few things, but nothing quite felt right. University finally opened my eyes to the careers out there, and I found my calling in financial advice. Even then, something was missing: I still needed a way to get my own dreams onto paper.
Then one day I stumbled across Claude, kept playing around with it, and realised I'd found my pencil. I believe AI is a door opener that levels the playing field and gives anyone a real chance to create their dreams. These days I believe anything is possible, and I'll keep going until something sticks.
The Goal
At the end of the day, I aspire to create products, services and projects I'm proud to put my name on, to genuinely help people reach their financial goals, and to build things people love to use. And I can't forget the childhood dream, a big Rayglass with twin Merc's.
Plus along the way, I'd love to meet people chasing similar goals and dreams. Is that you?
